In this interval, silt washing off the site finds its way into the manhole, clogging it up. This then requires clearing out before the drainage system can be used. To do this, a worker must enter the confined space and carefully remove all silt – a thankless task. To meet safety requirements, the worker must be qualified for working in confined spaces, and a tripod and harness system must be provided as a means of escape.
MuckStopper, an innovative product from UK company Drainfast, has already solved similar problems with inspection chambers. Now Drainfast has developed and launched a MuckStopper product, especially for manhole covers.
Installation of the MuckStopper RS 675 (for single manholes) and RS 1220 (for double manholes) is easy -watch this video to see how it’s done.
A MuckStopper frame that securely holds the MuckStopper is fitted when the manhole is constructed. The MuckStopper sits underneath the manhole cover while in use, trapping any silt that may get past the cover.
When the time has come for the MuckStopper to be removed, this can be done without entering the manhole and lifts all the silt with it, leaving the drainage system clear and clean.
Once road construction is complete, the MuckStopper is removed and the manhole frame and cover are reinstalled to fit flush with the finished surface. The MuckStopper can then be redeployed to another project.
MuckStopper is the only product range that will keep all your inspection chambers, manholes and road gullies free of silt – a complete solution to protect the entire drainage system on your construction site.
