Roads and sewers are typically installed early in a building project. This leaves the deep drainage susceptible to the ingress of silt and mud. To tackle this widespread issue, we have developed a new product, the MuckStopper 600m. This acts as a secondary manhole cover that is completely watertight and therefore prevents any silt or debris from entering the manhole below. Our prototype product was installed at an O'Halloran & O'Brien project in Godalming, and you can see how it performed in the video below.
It’s quite a bad problem because you spend a lot of time cleaning the manholes out, but with this MuckStopper you literally take the lid off, and all the silt is there just to clean out! We take the manhole cover off, and the silt is just underneath the manhole cover, not down the manhole.
Once you’ve taken the cover off you can easily climb down the steps into the, into the chamber. It saves a lot of time, you normally you’ve got to have two men there to clean the manhole back out, and it saves that all together.
