What is a Gully Grating?
A gully grating, also called a drain gully cover, is designed to be placed over a drainage gully to prevent debris, leaves and large objects from entering the drainage system. It allows water to flow freely while maintaining safety for pedestrians and vehicles, helping to reduce blockages and flooding.
What is the purpose of a gully?
A gully collects and channels surface water, including rainwater, from streets, pavements and other hard surfaces into the drainage system. It prevents water accumulation, reduces flooding risks and helps protect roads, properties and pedestrian areas from water damage and erosion.
Do areas with rainwater always need a gully?
Not all rainwater requires a gully drain. They are typically only necessary in areas where water cannot naturally soak into the ground, such as areas with hard surfaces.
